Company Description:
Cobb Agri specialise in soil sampling, soil nutrition, lime and fertiliser. We supply a large range of liquid and solid fertilisers, lime and grass/forage seeds in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire and Worcestershire and beyond.
About Cobb Agri:
We are a small, close knit team that “work hard and play hard”. Based in an open plan, beautiful 15th Century barn conversion on our farm in rural Herefordshire, we help our clients grow over 82,000 hectares of arable, grassland, potatoes, maize and fruit by sampling over 5,000 fields annually. Our role is to help farmers ensure the plant has the best start through optimum fertility for each and every crop, to help farmers maximise yield, quality and always with an eye to keeping their costs and / or workload to a minimum.
We designed our own bespoke database with field records going back over 20 years, combining this information with the most up to date products and services we are market leaders in trialling new and refined ideas. Our nutrient management system is unrivalled. We work closely with our client’s agronomist to keep continuity in policy and productivity.
As agents and merchant we can source Yara, Origin and other fertiliser products or whatever the client needs including foliar products, Fibrophos and Lime, not just a limited range of products from one company. Utilising a number of local and nationwide, quality hauliers and contractors we pride ourselves on our prompt deliveries and accurate applications. Our aim is to improve quality and yield for the client and where possible also saving them money and / or time in applications.

Accounts Assistant
Job Description:
- Based at our office is near Madley, 6 miles SW of Hereford.
- We are looking for an organised and excellent communicator.
- The successful candidate will need to display a real enthusiasm to deliver top quality customer service to our farming clients.
- The role will be approximately mainly invoicing, debt chasing, administrative tasks
- Assisting our bookkeeper
- SAGE or bookkeeping experience preferred
- Good telephone manner
- Excellent organisational skills
- Part time approx 16 hours per week – Monday to Friday between 8-5 – flexible on which days
Duties will include:
- Reconcile supplier accounts & supplier payments
- E mail and file invoices
- Administration of BACS payments
- Reconcile bank statements
- Update sales, purchase and nominal ledgers – post recurring entries
- Process refunds
- Allocate customer receipts providing credit control analysis and aged debtor reporting with management of debtors list
- Dealing with HMRC where necessary
- Completion and submission of Quarterly VAT Returns
- VAT reconcilliation
- Cash flow / transfer of funds
- Management reports
- Produce Year End reports for external accountants
Key Requirements & Skills:
- Experience in Double Entry Bookkeeping and credit control
- Experience of Sage / any other bookkeeping software
- Experience in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Attention to detail is a must !

Soil Testing
Job Description:
- Soil Nutrition Position based primarily in Herefordshire.
- Our office is near Madley, 6 miles SW of Hereford.
- We are looking for an organised and excellent communicator with an agricultural background to promote our business. The successful candidate will need to display a real enthusiasm to deliver top quality customer service to our farming clients.
- The role will be approximately mainly on farm soil sampling
- Excellent organisational skills plus a love of the outdoors is required and a good degree of fitness.
- The role can commence at any time, although we would like to fill it promptly
- Part time approx 16 hours per week – Monday to Friday in daylight hours – flexible on which days
- We have a commercial vehicle for use in this role and a full clean driving license with reasonable driving experience is essential.
- The successful candidate will be able to read maps accurately and navigate around the countryside.
